Position

Last night we had our leadership event to take up our faith promises for the "GO" campaign. It was wonderful getting the leaders all together from each of the three campuses to focus on where God wants us to GO from here. The fellowship was great. The food not bad, for a banquet. But we had a little difficulty with the program, because of the wedding in the banquet room beside us. The music was so loud, we had difficulty hearing the video presentation and speaker. I noticed one of two things happening with the leaders. Either the LOUD BLARING of music distracted them from hearing what was being said, or they leaned and listened more closely. There are so many distractions in our lives. There are the interdepartmental disputes at work, the over due bills at home. It's the news, the baby, the teens, the spouse, the dogs, the chauffeuring, the traffic, the...well, I think you know perfectly what I mean. It is more important today than ever before to lean in and listen carefully to what the Lord is saying...to position yourself to hear, recieve and respond to all God is saying to us. Don't you think?

“Position”

Picture…The Lord showed me four different people. The first man that I saw was standing very close to the edge of a cliff. I came up to him and asked, “What you doing so close to the edge?” The man mentioned nonchalantly that he just want to see what was down there. I pleaded with him, “No, back up. What you need to see is up not down there; it is up here. Look up, everything you need is in Him. Don’t stand so close to the edge, its dangerous and a waste of your time.”

Then next picture I saw was of a woman standing in a shopping checkout line looking rather disgruntled. I said, “What is your problem?” She explained, “I’ve been standing in this line a long time, and it isn’t moving anywhere, it’s not getting me where I want to go.” She pointed to another line that seemed to be moving and told me that she wanted to try that line. I glanced at the other line and then look back into her eyes and said, “No. Contrary to what it might presently look like; you are in the right line. Stay where you are because this is the line that is going to get you where God wants you to go. Be steadfast and faithful and it will come to pass.”

Then I saw a man running a marathon. In the distance I could see the finish line, but it was obvious that he was struggling and about to quit. I jogged up to him and asked, “What are you doing?” He admitted that he was running out of power and that he was thinking about stopping and lying down on the sidelines for a while. I pointed to the finish line in the distance and said, “I know that you are exhausted, but you are almost there. Remember your strategy. You’ve been pacing yourself, but the goal is right up ahead. It’s time to give it everything you’ve got. Push on to the finish line for the Lord has promises waiting for you there. Don’t slack off now.”

I saw one more person standing in the middle of the room. The woman wasn’t doing anything. She was just standing there. It looked strange to me, but this was the fourth person I had seen in this vision, and I thought I was getting the hang of it. I thought I knew her problem. So I walked up to her and inquired, “You don’t know where you are, do you?” When the woman turned around and looked at me with a soft knowing smile, I realized I was mistaken. I assumed she didn’t have a clue, but she knew exactly where she was and what she was doing. She confirmed it when she spoke with quiet confidence, “I know where I am. I have positioned myself for God’s blessing.” Immediately, it was like the windows of heaven were opened and water just began to pour over her. Seemingly undisturbed by the drenching, she raised her hands and began to revel in the glory in the presence of God that was washing over her.”

Hear…the Lord say, “Position yourself to receive all that I have for you. This is not the time to stray from my side. Stay as close to me as you can. This is not the time to lose interest and wander off to some new activity. You are where you need to be, doing what you need to be doing. Have patience; all that I have promised you will come to pass. Press into My presence as never before. Do not allow discouragement or weariness to cause you to quit. Run this race with patience and perseverance for in doing so you are positioning yourself to receive my glory and provision.”

Consider: The problem with this life is that we have limited sight. All we truly know about is our present circumstances. We can guess about what might lie ahead, but that’s all it is, only a guess. We don’t know what is down the road. We have no idea of the events converging upon us. The good news is that God does. When He tells us to do something, you can be sure that it is for a purpose. When we walk in obedience to God it is like He is holding our arm like you would a blind person, leading the way. You can be sure that when you get there it will be well worth the effort. Allow God to position you. Be faithful. Be steadfast. Be unmovable. You are just about there.

Pray: “Lord, you know I really hate walking around blind, but I do trust you. I would really rather you give me the big pictures, but I figure I’m not quite ready for all of that information yet. I might scream in terror, or give up in discouragement. You know exactly how much information I need to be successful. I know that. So all I am asking for today, is for you to lead me, guide me, position me to receive all that you have for me, so that I will be ready and equipped to give to others also. In Jesus name, Amen.”
